Sandnes again

Hi hi. We went back up to Stavanger again to explore the wharf shopping area and today the Queen Elizabeth II was sitting tied up to the dock extruding hundreds of tourists into the downtown area. It's huge -- some 300 meters long and at least a dozen stories tall. I went into the Stavenger Emigration Library and the guy there helped us look up some ancestry while Kristen, Joy and Reade did some more shopping, then we ate lunch in an outdoor cafe next to the water. Early clouds gave way to blue skies and sunshine, with a nice ocean breeze to keep the temps perfect in the low 20s?

Next, we drove out southwest of town to the three swords monument, the location commemorating the unification of Norway in the 800s, before the Swedes invaded and took over. Then we went down to a beach at Sola and explored some abandoned Nazi bunkers from WWII and then waded in the North Sea for a while and ate ice cream.

Now it's back to the hotel for a bit of a rest before trying to hit a Norge kine to see Klodnes Kamp -- War of the Worlds.

Due to driving times, we've changed hotels for tomorrow night and instead of trying to make a long drive over the curvey mountain roads, we're going to go back along the south coast route past Kristiansand to Skien, then catch the ferry from Horten to Moss on Thursday for the drive back down to Sweden.

We're likely to have an early start in the morning, so I expect this will be the last post from Norge.

If I find time later or in the morning, or from Skien, I'll try to share some Observations. And I'll be posting a few photos over the weekend when we get back in Colorado.

Bye for now!
