Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp

What an amazingly fun week we had at Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, where for 144 hours all we did was eat, sleep and music. We played music, we learned new songs, we learned new instruments, we listened to music, we danced to Irish, Scotish, Cape Breton, bluegrass, old-time, Southwest and all other types of folk music, we joined into jams and concerts and talent shows and met some great people, patient teachers and talented musicians. We simply had a totally cool time (4/4 or sometimes 3/4, and more often 6/8).

Here are a few photos:

I love this photo: probably forty people of all ages and abilities playing fiddles, banjos, basses, mandolins and guitars during a rain shower, all jamming (and jammed) under a tent:

Music and more music

We're off to the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp for six days of making music in the mountains. It should be fun and a great way to end the summer. We'll share photos when we return. Last week we got to see Vienna Teng in concert down in Denver, touring in support of her new album, and the week before that we had a great time watching Connor's band Objects in Motion play a concert for their friends and family. They played all 11 songs, half of them orignals, and they sounded really quite good.
